Glasgow resident Chris Duncan, who records under the name C Duncan, got his degree in composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he studied classical music, and since then he’s spent his time writing pop songs.
He has just finished recording his debut album, which will be released on FatCat records by the end of 2014.
He personally refers to his music as ‘Ditsy Doo-da because he describes it as quite whimsical and dream-like,’ and the songs make a pretty good case for that.
His sound contains oddities similar to Animal Collective (who he names as an influence), Battles, or Sufjan Stevens, but it’s clear that his influences aren’t only contemporary.
There’s an old soul to his songs that has its roots in the pre-rock ‘n’ roll era of pop music.
